The Sacramento Regional STEM Fair is a 12-county science, technology, engineering, and math competition for students in grades 6-12. Students in grades 5-11 can participate in a non-judged showcase division. We encourage students of all ages to attend our Fair as an educational field trip – not only can they learn from their peers about a multitude of STEM projects, but they can also visit the College & Career Expo to find out more about career pathways into STEM.
Our Fair accepts participants in the following counties: Amador, Butte*, El Dorado, Placer, Plumas*, San Joaquin*, Sacramento, Shasta*, Solano*, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba.
*Students competing from these counties will NOT be eligible to continue on to the California State Science Fair.
Our Fair is split into three divisions, two competitive and one showcase:
**The Sacramento Regional STEM Fair high school division complies with the Regeneron ISEF Rules for Pre-College Science Research.
Students can participate in the Sacramento Regional STEM Fair by entering their STEM project into either the competition or showcase categories. Students may also volunteer.
Teachers are invited to participate in a multitude of ways:
1) may integrate creation of STEM projects in the classroom and encourage their students to enter the Fair.
2) may organize a class or school-wide field trip to the College & Career Expo held in tandem with the Sacramento Regional STEM Fair.
3) may attend the professional development workshops in the morning on the day of the Fair.
4) may sign up as general volunteers for the event.
Parents are invited to support their students & attend workshops as well as the College & Career Expo. Parents are also encouraged to sign up as general volunteers.
STEM professionals are encouraged to sign up as volunteer judges!
The Community is invited to the public hours to view the STEM projects students have completed and attend the College & Career Expo.
Local Colleges, Businesses and Organizations are encouraged to sign up for the College & Career Expo to showcase your degrees, programs and opportunities!
The Sacramento Regional STEM Fair is a regional scientific, technological, engineering and mathematics fair for Northern California.
Projects from outside the listed counties are accepted only IF an Intel ISEF-affiliated fair is not available for them to participate in their area. Any teacher, parent or student from outside the region interested in participating in the Fair must contact the staff for additional information.
Students can be enrolled in a public, private, parochial or home school – and do NOT need to enter a school project, with their class, or under the guidance of a teacher.
